We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Litigation & Housing Solicitor to join our growing litigation department.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of civil litigation and housing matters, providing clear, practical, and strategic legal advice to clients while ensuring high standards of client care and compliance.

The role requires strong litigation experience, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced legal environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, colleagues, and support staff to ensure efficient case progression and positive client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities (not exhaustive)
  • Managing a varied caseload of civil litigation and housing matters from instruction to completion.
  • Handling landlord and tenant disputes, housing disrepair claims, possession proceedings, rent arrears matters, and general housing litigation.
  • Managing general civil litigation matters including breach of contract disputes, debt recovery, property disputes, enforcement proceedings, and consumer disputes.
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, court applications, legal correspondence, and settlement agreements.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing legal advice for clients.
  • Attending court hearings, mediations, negotiations, and conferences where required.
  • Advising clients on litigation risks, legal strategy, and procedural matters.
  • Ensuring compliance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), court deadlines, SRA regulations, and firm policies.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files using the firms case management systems.
  • Providing a high level of client care and maintaining regular communication with clients throughout their matters.
  • Assisting with business development and maintaining professional relationships with clients and referrers.
  • Supporting and supervising junior staff or support staff where required.
  • Achieving fee earning targets and departmental objectives.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, skills, and experience as directed by management.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • Minimum 3 years PQE in Civil Litigation and/or Housing Law preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
  • Experience managing litigated matters independently.
  • Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and case management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and strong client care skills.
  • Experience using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
